12 Weeks Out - Listen to your gut

Listen to your gut, it always knows what your head hasn't figured out yet...

While I have been sticking to a regimented plan of turkey, cod, rice, oatmeal, egg whites, spinach, almonds and green beans, I was surprised to find that I wasn't feeling better or cutting as much weight as my friends with similar goals and meal plans. I wasn't eating dairy, cut out processed foods, alcohol, gluten and even my delicious chocolate shakes! For those of you who think that is crazy, I did too, but I was I willing to make the sacrifice because I thought I was going to make some major headway. And to be fair, I did make some progress, but something was off.

I felt like I was doing everything right, but the weird thing was I wasn't dropping a lot of weight OR feeling better. I was experiencing bloating, cramping, headaches, and brain fog. Following my instincts, I decided to get a food intolerance test to see if I could verify if I was working against myself and here are the results.

I'm reactive to pork, turkey, rice, oats, soy, cayenne, oregano, olive, tuna, string beans, cheddar, salmon, scallop, shrimp, crab, tapioca, apricot, pistachio, pecan, papaya, orange, and maple!

I was shocked, but then again, they always say ‘listen to your gut.’ In most scenarios, my body was telling me what to eat and what to avoid, but I would gobble it down anyway because I was willing to do what was necessary to reach my goals. But after 6 weeks of indigestion, my body feels like it's been run over by truck. I'm feeling really worn out and my GI tract needs a break. So this week is my time to slow down, reconfigure, and detox.

I am in the process of recreating my meal plan, reducing inflammation and getting healthy. Hopefully, in a few months, once my body has healed I can slowly reintroduce these foods back into my diet.
